We encourage our longtime friends and supporters to include PCL in their estate plans with a planned gift. By including PCL in your estate plan, you provide enduring support and an important source of future financial security to an organization with a history of devotion to protecting the environment. There are several ways you can name PCL as one of your estate’s beneficiaries,* these include:
- A bequest in your will, either a set amount or a percentage of your estate (this is the most common form of a planned gift).
- A life income gift, which pays you, and your spouse, income for your life and donates the remainder to PCL or PCLF.
- A gift of appreciated property, stock, or life insurance policy.
- A beneficiary designation of an IRA, life insurance policy, or retirement plan.
*An attorney or financial planner can explain the tax benefits of these gifts.

Jake Sigg, a loyal supporter of PCL for more than two decades, has been a leader in the California Native Plant Society, and a force for protection of the environment in California, especially in San Francisco. Recently, we asked him to consider including PCL in his will. He had this to say:
"The Planning and Conservation League has done great work protecting our environment. I was delighted by the opportunity to leave proceeds from my estate to an organization to which I have long felt affection and gratitude, as it represents some of my deepest values. And, it was very easy. I simply filled out a short form, provided by PCL, and sent it in. If you are thinking about estate planning, consider including the Planning and Conservation League." -Jake Sigg
