Final Permit for San Clemente Dam Removal Approved

Coastal Commission Bills Move through Appropriations
AB 203 (Stone) and AB 976 (Atkins), both PCL-supported California Coastal Commission bills, have passed through Appropriations as of May 1st and May 8th, respectively, and are pending hearing on the Assembly Floor. These bills provide incentive for the reduction and resolution of California Coastal Act violations and strengthen protection of valuable coastal resources. Please call your Assembly member to urge his or her support on these bills, or contact Rebecca Crebbin-Coates to add your organization to our support sign-on letters. |

AB 953 on Track to Overturn Ballona Wetlands Decision
AB 953 (Ammiano), which would overturn the Ballona Wetlands Land Trust decision, passed through Appropriations on May 8th. This bill would correct recent misguided court decisions that held that an Environmental Impact Review cannot take into account risks from existing or reasonably foreseeable physical conditions such as sea level rise, earthquake or flood risk, or existing air pollution.
