RETURN ON INVESTMENT: NEW REPORT SHOWS OVER ONE MILLION ACRES IN CALIFORNIA PROTECTED BY HABITAT CONSERVATION FUND

A new report released by the Mountain Lion Foundation, an organizational member of the Planning and Conservation League, answers a perennial question of legislators and voters alike – Where did our money go and what did it accomplish?

Here’s the much-anticipated conclusion: The fund has already protected more than one million acres and hundreds of miles of waterways throughout the State. That’s a tremendous accomplishment and a powerful return on our investment as Californian taxpayers.

The Habitat Conservation Fund was established by a vote of the people in 1990 to ensure that $30 million over 30 years is distributed to responsible state agencies, dedicated to protecting habitat for some of California's most awesome residents, including the bald eagle, the Chinook Salmon - and the human being.

Please do not hesitate to contact Lynn Sadler, the President of the Mountain Lion Foundation or the California Council of Land Trusts to learn more about how the Habitat Conservation Fund is working throughout California, and in your area, to preserve and protect our natural resources, for the benefit of us all.
