PCL INSIDER: News from the Capitol

The PCL Insider staff has just returned from the winter holidays and we're getting ready for a very busy new year. Here are some upcoming events you'll want to make sure to write down in your 2008 calendars.

ONE WEEK LEFT: LEARN HOW TO MESSAGE AND MARKET YOUR ORG AT THE PCL ENVIRONMENTAL SYMPOSIUM!

There are only seven days left before the annual PCL Environmental Legislative Symposium on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Sacramento Convention Center.

This year, we've added two "How To" sessions that will help your organization get the word out about its environmental accomplishments and upcoming activities:

For those of you on a budget or with limited computer skills, have no fear -- Bobbi Russell (Green Media Toolshed) and Karen Cotton (Mountain Lion Foundation) will help you bring your marketing and communication skills into the 21st century with their session "How To...Utilize New Technologies for Marketing."

If you're feeling burnt out by tales of environmental disasters, it's time to revitalize your view of messaging and transform the language and strategies you use to motivate others. Join Reinette Senum (PowerUp-NC) for "How To...Change the Way You Change the World."

We hope we've inspired you enough to register for the PCL Symposium where you can gain these critical skills. See you in Sacramento!

Leading policy makers, including Governor Schwarzenegger, Mayor Gavin Newsom, and Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, will be speaking at Advancing the New Energy Economy in California, a unique one day summit on January 14th in San Francisco.

This Summit will bring together nearly 1,000 policy makers, industry experts, investors, labor leaders, and environmentalists to advance long-term investment, financial growth, and job creation within the green technology sector.  Come learn about the innovative strategies that will ensure that California continues to lead the nation in promoting a green economy.

CALIFORNIA COUNCIL OF LAND TRUSTS EXPANDS ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Due to its increasing popularity and scope, the 2008 California Land Trust Conference, hosted by the California Council of Land Trusts, will run from February 4-6 at three (count 'em) locations in Sacramento.
