Schwarzenegger Signs Flood Legislation

On Wednesday October 10, Governor Schwarzenegger signed all components of a 2007 legislative flood package. PCL spent a great deal of time this year working to ensure this package would protect the lives and property of Californians, promote better local planning, protect the state (and taxpayers) from unreasonable exposure to liability for damages caused by flood, all while preserving wildlife habitat and agricultural lands by calling for the use of setback levees and flood bypasses as “natural infrastructure” for flood control.

PCL Fights Back Against Business Attack on CEQA (06/26/07)
Business leaders are attempting to undermine CEQA, and to stop progress on global warming solutions. In a June 21st letter, business organizations say that action to stop global warming is "premature." They particularly target efforts by Attorney General Jerry Brown to use CEQA to address our global warming crisis. PCL Executive Director Gary Patton fights right back, with his own letter to the Governor, Senator Perata, and Speaker Núñez.
