2010 Symposium Background

The Title
"Greening California's Landscapes: Smart Solutions for a New Era"

The Date
Saturday, January 30, 2010

The Theme
Tired of hearing about all the doom and gloom associated with our environmental issues? Us too! By combining our individual and collective experiences and solutions we can not only envision a greener landscape, but we will unleash innovative remedies to some of our most critical problems.

PCL and PCLF's dedication to environmental issues has helped formulate some of California's most important environmental laws. Our present capabilities and fortitude demonstrate we are in this for the long haul to ensure more of California's landscapes go green.

The 2010 Symposium will equip participants with the tools to remedy critical environmental concerns!

The Program & Proceedings
The Annual Symposium included dynamic keynote presentations, interactive panel discussions, "How To..." workshops, MCLE courses, and an awards luncheon. During each of the three 75-minute sessions, every participant choose from MCLE, policy sessions or "How To..." workshops. During lunch, PCL and PCLF honored six of California's most effective, inspirational, and hard working environmental advocates.

MCLE Credit
PCL and PCLF certify that this activity was approved for 5.0 hours of MCLE credit by the State Bar of California. The 5.0 MCLE credits include two plenary sessions and three panels as noted on the activity descriptions. These credits may not be claimed for required MCLE in legal ethics, elimination of bias, or the prevention, detection, and treatment of substance abuse or mental illness that impairs professional competence.

AICP CM Credit
AICP members earned Certification Maintenance (CM) credits for many activities at this event. When CM credits were available they are noted at the end of an activity description (with CM) on our agenda. Each policy session and MCLE session have received approval for CM credit and each is worth 1.25 credits. More information about AICP's CM program can be found at http://www.planning.org/cm.

Sponsors
Our event would not have been as successful if it weren't for the generous support and assistance from our many sponsors. Thank you!

Award Winners
Each year PCL and the PCL Foundation honor environmental advocates that went above and beyond to protect our environment and communities. This year we celebrated the work of six environmental heroes: Assemblymember Pedro Nava, Bill Yeates, Mother Lode Chapter, Sierra Club, Debbie Davis, Martha Davis and Small Business California.
